The paint is Spurgeon, and dated as 1987, but it wasn’t featured in Scootering or on Paddy’s patches until ’93.


What are some of the unique features of your scooter?
Engraving believed to be Don Blocksbridge, leather seat and mats were Nigel Cox’s ex wife.

Bought from a mate

Not really, what can you do to a custom survivor other than ride and look after.

How did you get into scooters?
Cheap transport, lad at work sold me a V100, and then I found scootering and empty wallets
What is your fondest memory of riding your scooter?
I first saw this in ’92 on my estate for 5 minutes, then it disappeared off the face of the earth for 25 years, and surfaced with a mate in Bristol. And then I pestered him. First ride was brilliant after wanting it for so long.
What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of owning a scooter?
Which one to ride.
What specific advice would you give to someone who is considering restoring a vintage scooter?
Be careful of what you buy, and who you trust for work and parts.
Where have you found the best resources for vintage scooter parts and information?
I am fortunate to always have had Nigel Cox and Scootopia locally.
What do you find to be the most rewarding aspect of owning a scooter?
The whole ownership and friendships made over the years.
What are some of the things you hope to see happen with scootering?
Scootering to survive and live long enough to keep doing it.
What do you most enjoy about your scooter?
The whole look of it
What are some of the best places to ride a vintage scooter?
Round the lanes where I live on a hot day in shorts and t-shirt, cant beat it.
How do you see as the future going with regards to scooters?
Why worry about what hasn’t happened yet.

Nowt really stands out, as so many things have happened. But being sat on the balcony with Paul Callins in Brid one year when he was chastising me for riding a GTS up there, and he pointed out a couple of PX street racers been ridden down the road saying ‘that is proper scootering’. And how I laughed when we watched them get loaded into a van in front of us 😀
