Vespa T5 Classic
I Met Jay and his pal a couple of years ago ‘somewhere’ and since then I have noticed the both of them at every Rally I have attended, since then (at least it seems that way). Fantastic Effort and commitment to Scootering and a lovlier pair you will not find. Jay is a Scot and in my mind thats 100 miles before you get anywhere when going to a Rally. really great ambassadors for scooter youth in the UK and for Scotlands Scooter Folk.
Very happy to have him fill in our Questionnare, he tells me he has enjoyed reading the posts since I started. Music to my ears. Keep the Faith Lads, Jay, gud on ya pal! Im impressed.

How did you get into scooters?
It’s a question I find hard to answer, when I was 16 I was looking to get about, so I knew
someone who was selling a LML. I ended up buying that and using that, at the time i thought it was the best thing ever until I blew it up. And then forwards I’ve always had scooters. I’ve met some of the best people through the scooter scene and some are now my best mates. At the age of 22 I currently have Two Lambretta’s and two Vespa’s- what more can you ask for?
😉
What is your fondest memory of riding your scooter?
Again there’s that many I could write about. Couple which comes into my head is riding
around the north coast of Scotland, with some of the most beautiful roads there is on this planet (I’m not biased) however the Isle of Wight comes close to it also.
The feeling of getting off the ferry on the the island is something else.
What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of owning a scooter?
Probably the upkeep of them. Luckily there is a lot of good people in this scene who are
willing to help.
What specific advice would you give to someone who is considering restoring a
vintage scooter?
When i have restored a scooter I will let you know haha
Where have you found the best resources for vintage scooter parts and information?
Buzzsolomoto– always first class service however there is many other websites which are
just as good.
What do you find to be the most rewarding aspect of owning a scooter?
The people you meet and the memories and adventures they bring!
What are some of the things you hope to see happen with scootering?
Less autos more two strokes.
What do you most enjoy about your scooter?
The smile that they constantly put on my face.
How do you see as the future going with regards to scooters?
Well ofcourse there’s more and more autos coming along however until the day I can’t I will be riding a Lambretta or Vespa 2 stroke scooter.
Please share a funny or interesting story that for you wasa special moment., or
something our audience might enjoy.
There’s that many it’s actually hard to think about it…Riding from Edinburgh to Cleethorpes which took me just close to 15 hours and friends breaking down and me riding in the wrong direction at the end, at the time I wanted to cry but looking back now it was a good laugh !
